Installed Modules
April 11, 2009 by admin
Drupal4Ed has installed a number of Drupal's Contributed Modules. This is the quickest way to enhance a site, and it can be very rewarding! One downside of this approach is that one must count on the individual module developers to keep their modules up-to-date.
This list does not include every module added to this site, just the ones that make their presence felt in a visible way.
- FAQ and FAQ-Ask. Great for sites that want to allow users to contribute potential questions for the FAQ list. To control spam I decided to turn anonymous questions off, and right now the only way to get an account at this site is to send me email. Ultimately, though, this will provide students at this site an easy way to ask questions with reasonable hope that they will be answered.
- CCK (the content construction kit). This is the module that has allowed me to easily enhance the Book Pages at Drupal4Ed.
- Organic Groups. This module provides a way to segregate users into groups with private content, among other things. I currently have this module turned off, but I may re-enable it in the future.
- BUEditor. A non-WYSIWYG editor that makes marking up node content easier without actually hiding the markup. WYSYWIG (what you see is what you get) editors can save time, but the ones available for Drupal are buggy and the BUEditor makes it easy to add custom buttons for site-specific markup.
- ePage. The module used to associate page-specific educational content into a Drupal block
- Student Notes. Another custom module. This is just a simple page annotation tool. Think of it as digital margin notes. Available only to logged-in users.
